Boko Haram ambush: kills one policeman, injures another in Borno Boko Haram members yesterday ambushed a police patrol van, killing one police officer and injuring another. The attack happened at Biu local government in Borno state. The state police public relations officer, Victor Isuku, who confirmed the incident, said the police officers were able to repel the sect members. The remains of the killed police officer has been deposited at government hospital in Damboa while the injured one is receiving medical attention.

Ambode okays death penalty for kidnappers...signs ant-kidnapping, sporting bills into Law Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday signed into law the anti-kidnapping bill recently passed by the State House of Assembly, with a pledge to ensure its full implementation to eradicate kidnapping once and for all in the State. 16 people dead as bus crashes in Italy According to Italian news agency ANSA, a bus returning from a school trip hit a pylon of a bridge near Verona in northern Italy this morning, leaving at least 16 people dead and 39 others injured. Ghanaian chief wears 400-year-old regalia to the funeral of Asantehemaa (Photo) Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, the reigning Akwamuhene in Ghana was among other high chiefs that attended the funeral rites for the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa , the Asantehemaa and Queen mother of Asante Kingdom'. According to a report,  the regalia he wore to the funeral rite on Wednesday, January 19, 2017,  was 400 years old. Asantehemaa, the Queen mother of Asante Kingdom, who died on Monday, November 14, 2016, at the age of 111, was laid to rest at Manhyia.
